Brides The Show 2016

Brides The Show 2016 was the only event to say yes to last Autumn and it was definitely the most beautiful yet. In addition to their show-stopping catwalk, DIY Imagination Room sessions and make-up masterclasses, there were a range of fantastic designers, florists, cake-makers, stationers, photographers, venues and more – it certainly bought my idea of the perfect wedding day to life!

Their Circus catwalk surpassed expectation and bought the magic of the circus to life. The ultimate in showmanship and creativity, more than 20 bridal designers took to the catwalk to showcase the romance and whimsy of the 30’s travelling circus. From Halfpenny London to Katya Katya Shehurina – think confident, sassy showgirls and silver-screen legends, lots of ruffles, fluttering feathers and slinky silks. Guests were also treated to a circus of their own upon entering the catwalk space – with complimentary popcorn, prosecco pops, photobooths and more.

One of my favourite features had to be the Imagination Room where experts took part in leading sessions ranging from making floral bunny ears to calligraphy masterclasses – there was definitely something for everyone. The Whoopie Pie Wall also proved popular, with bridals hottest new dessert (a combination of marshmallow, chocolate and buttercream – yum!) helping to raise money for the partner charity for this year – Smartworks. The idea was you bought a Whoopie Pie and if it had a certain sticker on it you won a prize, including dresses, cakes and even a honeymoon! I loved this idea and bought way too many.

The Very Modern Wedding Cake exhibit was also another of my favourite features. It included cakes from some of the most creative bakers of all time, including a rainbow of meringues, a cake that’s a dress, a florating cake and my personal favourite – a six-tiered jaw-dropping sweet-shop inspired cake from Georgia’s Cakes. Georgia has designed cakes for none other that fashion royalty Cara Delavigne and her drool-worthy bakes are seriously cool, I mean – who wouldn’t like a cake piled high with lollipops, macarons, meringues, chocolate and hundreds and thousands?

There was so much to do at Brides The Show and although I didn’t win a new pair of Jimmy Choo’s on their Shoe Wall, I left feeling truly inspired.
